Plasterboard

Plasterboard Recycling

Hamilton Waste endeavours to recycle as much plasterboard from construction waste as possible preventing landfill and improving sustainability.

So what do we do with the plasterboard we recover?

Step 1 (Produce): Plasterboard is delivered by our construction customers after being segregated on site.
Step 2 (Process): Using a specialist facility we shred and screen to give a 6mm pure gypsum powder, predominantly used by the agricultural sector as a soil conditioner, promoting soil structure and root growth.
Step 3 (Recycle): Calcium sulphate is applied at around 1 ton per acre by our local farmers, particularly those growing potatoes.Given its dusty nature, the processing operation is covered by specialist dust suppression equipment to maintain a safe working environment.
